Kantaris is a Unique Media Player Based on VLC
What do you get when you combine the plays-anything aspect of VLC with the pleasant interface of Windows Media Player? Today we'll show you the super-slick Kantaris media player.
Using Kantaris Media Player
Kantaris is a quick download around 10MB and installs very easily following the installation wizard.
Kantaris can play virtually every type of media file you want to associate with it.
The user interface is very intuitive and offers cool options such as Last.FM Radio, previewing movies, and creating a video library.
Click on the Info button to retrieve album art and song information from the Last.FM database.
You can use the Last.FM button to easily browse for and listen to music directly from the player.
It offers some cool visualizations that you can change around as well.
You can also play most video files with Kantaris and easily access settings by right clicking anywhere on the movie screen.
Another great feature is the ability to preview Apple movie trailers from within the app.
Keyboard Ninja’s will appreciate the ability to customize hotkeys for various functions.

Overall this is a great player with an attractive interface and easy to use options. It doesn’t have all of the features offered in VLC yet, but this project is in constant development so there should be more coolness coming. Right now Kantaris runs on Windows only
** Editor Note: I would like to give a special thanks to Scott Our Forum Administrator for pointing this player out to us! **

The interface actually reminds me more of Winamp than Windows Media Player.
Trusting soul that I am- any security issues with this?
does this or the VLC player have a smaller memory usage while running? or maybe i should ask if there is a significant difference between the two with regard to memory usage.
I don't know how you do it, but you keep coming up with good stuff! Great Job, keep it up! Jim
Is it just me, or does that GUI look hideous? It looks like a theme created for Winamp by a teenager. I much prefer something simple that doesn't get in the way like Media Player Classic or MPlayer OSX Extended.
Can It Play rm Files?
no arthur, it's not just you
I think it looks terrible, too
THNK YOU!@
this software is the best
i live the movie trailers in it
Can't set it to output audio to anything other than the Windows default device, which sucks. Otherwise looks ok. I like how it displays what'll play next in last.fm.
I agree with Arthur.
Well it is a nice try again to make a very good webplayer but failed due to not enough knowledge about programming and the need of the user. I am a high end user and have issues concerning the manipulation of this player. To adjust the volume is almost impossible. well I prefere the crystal player which gives me almost that what i wish to have. Maybe there is a chance to reprogramize the issues and then maybe I will use it. But good work anyway.
Though, to be honest, as a Linux user I use two other programs for my media. For video: xine. Because unlike VLC I can JUST have the video window open and nothing else. And it was practically built for DVD playing.
And Amarok for Audio… and I mean Amarok 1.4, not that bastard child of the brain-dead KDE4 developers, Amarok 2.
I only use VLC for the rare occasion I encounter something my other players cannot play.
Very nice, however I think you should make a Jamaican colour version in which the buttons are different because them ones are pretty gay tbh man. That would be awesome you could even calle it Reggae player:O!
The White EP? in flac? win. doesn't beat having the CD though ;D
