How to Import Gmail Contacts Into Outlook 2007
As your email accounts and email applications change, it seems there is always a different way to get your contacts organized. Previously we covered how to Import Contacts Into Thunderbird, but today we will look at how to import important contacts from Gmail into Outlook 2007.
Importing Gmail Contacts
Exporting your Gmail contact information is basically handled the same for you to use the file to import into any email application. Just log into your account, select Contacts and then individual or All contact then Export to a location on your hard drive.
Next choose Outlook’s CSV format to allow the file to easily transfer into the application.
The next thing we need to do is import that contacts file into Outlook 2007. Open Outlook and click File \ Import and Export.
When the Import and Export Wizard opens select “Import from another program or file” then hit Next.
Next select “Comma Separated Values (DOS)” and click Next.
Browse for the Excel CSV file and choose options about duplicate entries and continue by clicking Next.
Here you will want to select the appropriate folder or location you want to keep the information hit Next.
The next screen basically verifies what we just did an also offers the option to change the destination or Map Custom Fields (which is a whole other topic we can get into at another time) hit Finish and your done.

How do you go the other way, synchronizing Gmail contacts with Outlook 2007? Is there anything like the Google Calendar sync program to keep them in sync?
I have "a million" contacts from gmail days of yore and when I wanted to purge my contact list, gmail said I could only delete 20 at a time… any tips on how to go about deleting almost a 1000 contacts?
The bad news is that now that Google Reader forced the Share feature for all contacts, I've been busy ignoring them one at a time, but I'd rather just purge all the contacts and then import the ones I do want again.

i was hitting my head on microsoft website to import contacts from my gmail account to outlook 2007 for my company email , but there was no enough answer about it , i found it on howthegeek ,

Sure wish my screens looked like the ones shown above!! When I select FILE in Outlook 2007 the option of IMPORT AND EXPORT doesn't even exist! How frustrating is that. Anyone else have that problem?

This importing is not working and I have tried it several times. Too bad.
Instead of selecting COMMA SEPERATED VALUES (DOS)
Choose COMMA SEPERATED VALUES (WINDOWS) and it will work if you are using Windows XP.

thanks for the help really it was very easy to folllow even a child cud have done with such instructions..
When I export from gmail contacts to outlook using the above instructions I lose the "+"s I have before each of my phone numbers so that when they arrive in outlook the numbers are e.g. 447720333444 instead of +447720333444. When I then sync with my mobile phone I cant call anyone as the mobile needs to have the +. Anyone know an easy way to fix this?
