Quick Tip: Hide Outlook 2007 When Minimized
Some days you might have so many applications running you are not able to keep track of them all. One of the programs bound to be taking up space is Outlook. Today we will cover a quick tip that will allow more space on your task bar when you have Outlook Minimized.
You may have noticed that by default when you minimize Outlook it still shows in the taskbar.

To stop it from showing up right click on the Outlook icon in the notification area next to the clock then select Hide When Minimized.
Another notification balloon will pop up notifying the change and how to change it back if needed.
Now there will be additional space on the Taskbar for other programs. Now you can maximize Outlook by Double Clicking the notification icon or clicking on the notification pop up if that is enabled.

This works but it only does one Outlook window and you can;t alt-tab back to Outlook. I have the mail, calendar and sometimes contact windows open at the same time (right click the icon and select open in new window). With mutiplkwe windows open I can alt-ab betwen them daster than clicking the buttons. I use srtart killer to save space on the taskbar and I inceased the size so that it holds two rows of icons.

Yes, being able to Alt-Tab back to Outlook would make this feature usable…
I use a shortcut to boot outlook at startup, is there a way to make it start minimized?
Nice new feature that previous versions lacked. The big problem is that Outlook 2007 is dog slow. Even on my Core 2 Duo @ 3.2GHz with 4GB RAM on Vista x64 it is slow. I don't even have the Avast plug-in enabled. It's just slow, to open and do anything.
I don't get e-mail often enough anyway so I just use Gmail through the web.

Yes, right click on the shortcut - Properties: Run minimized. You will still get the notification baloon that you have to close though.
This was very helpful. Exactly what I was looking for
(That Friendly enough?)
Thanks for the help!
I don't have an option to do that on the shortcut properties… the only options i have are email accounts, data files, and show profiles
Skides, thanks..worked great. 2007 though seem to have just splash screen, like freeze the system for a second like outlook always does with its mammoth appetite…no balloons to burst away…
Zeta, you are lookin' at the wrong place.
1. Create a normal shortcut.
2. In Properties change Run option from normal to minimized.
3. Copy/Move the shortcut to your Start up folder.
Outlook 2007 opens to FULL screen, I am only able to minimize the screen to the task bar or to maximize it to FULL screen. I am running dual monitors and I am not able to reduce it from FULL screen so that I can move it to the monitor 2.
When I minimize Outlook from FULL screen, the cursor shoots the top left hand of the monitor 1. If I right-click the Outlook icon in the taskbar and select anything except "maximize", the cursor shoots to the top left-hand corner of monitor 1. It would appear that the Outlook window is in the top left-hand portion of monitor 1 however you cannot see it or access it.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Hi,
I am having the same issue as Frank; seems I cannot find any fix or information; have you found a resolution Frank?
I am using multiple monitors and have even disabled the second monitor in hopes that would fix it.
By the way, if I enter outlook via safe mode with all addons active; Outlook opens correctly.
Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thank u sooo muchhhhhhhhhh
it really helpedddd
