Creative Zen V Plus
Since I gave up iTunes and went to Foobar2000; I have also decided to research other portable mp3 players as well. I ended up purchasing a Creative Zen V Plus. I have always been a fan of Creative products and this little guy does not disappoint. I have the 4GB model which allows me to store enough music and podcasts for trips and long walks.
You can use Zencast to synchronize your playlists or download music and podcasts. It is not necessary so I just simply drag and drop audio files on to it. The operation with the joystick takes getting used to but it works. The OLED screen is crisp and bright for navigation and showing album art. You can watch short video clips on it. You can also use the Creative Zen V as a digital voice recorder. What is most impressive is now small and light the unit is. The Plus model also comes with an FM tuner which is an added benefit.

I'd like to restore by Zen V Plus (2G), but holding down the start and pushing reset button at same time isn't working…any suggestions. I'd like to erase mine and start over with a new library.
Thanks for the concise review. Can you please explain how to drop podcasts onto the Zen? When I click on the podcast link at the source website, it starts playing via the Creative MediaSource Organizer. I don't want to listen to now - I want to store it on the Zen for later! Do I have to let the 2 hour podcast stream onto the zen in real-time? Thanks.
How do you operate the voice recorder on the zen v plus?
@ James:
On the menu scroll down to Extras then Microphone and you will see a volume meter … then just click the red record button on the left side under the volume buttons. When you're done recording just hit the record button again and the recording will be saved.
There is also a Line In so you can connect a microphone or other audio source to record .. that is pretty cool.
