Crapware
I love the term "crapware" There is so much of it out there. All the crapware bundled into Best Buy and Dell computers. Here is a list of crapware that I can think of off the top of my head.
AOL
Yahoo
M$ Works
Norton
Google Toolbar and Desktop Search
60 day trial of M$ Office
Napster
Musicmatch
M$ Access … yep what a crappy Database program.
Eh… there is a ton of it.

Hello. Stumbled on your site by chance. Maybe now my mystery will be solved.
My Vista, purchased from Dell, came with URGE and Roxio. Both are long removed now, but were they MS or Dell installations? Thanks Wayne
URGE is MS and Roxio comes as part of Dell Pre-installed software.
Dont forget Realplayer , Quicktime, McAfee Antivirus!
Good call Joe!
[…] try to sneak in during installation. Especially it that software can definitely be considered "Crap-Ware". I have found a couple of instances of this while reinstalling Trillian on my Vista […]
Crapware is one reason why I like building my own PCs rather than buying 'off-the-shelf' boxes. However, this isn't practical with laptops. When I bought a Packard Bell laptop (~4 yrs. ago, XP), I had to spend around half an hour removing tons of such crap (MS Office trial, Norton, various OEM apps and other stuff that I can't remember). Maybe we should start a petition to all OEMs asking them to stop crudding up new PCs with rubbish!
Buy a computer designed for business use - much less or no crapware. Dell is one of many that do this.
