The Easy Way to Run Programs as Root on KDE

On KDE, there are a number of ways to run programs as root. I usually recommend the method in this article. There is an even easier way for new users, though in practice it may take a tad longer.

1. Open up the run dialog by pressing Alt+F2. If you use the default K Menu, you can also find it under Run Command.

2. Type in the program you want, and then click Options.

3."X" the box marked Run as a different user. For the username below, type in root if it is not there already. Enter your root password below that box, or on Kubuntu, your user password.

4. Click Run for your program to run as root.
