One Tab Close Button in Firefox 2.x
Firefox 2.0 dropped the one close button for all tabs and instead opted to include a close button on each tab. This can be quite annoying to users who like Firefox 1.5 and earlier's behavior. Even if you have only started using Firefox recently, you may find that you close tabs on accident quite a bit. Thankfully, this can be changed with a quite about:config change. (Don't worry if you don't know what this means yet)
1. Navigate to about:config in Firefox.

2. Next to Filter search for browser.tabs.closeButtons

3. Double click on the result. In the dialog box that appears, replace 1 with 3 to get a tab close icon only on the far right. As soon as you click OK, you should get something similar to the screenshot below.

For those interested, here are what all the values do (based on personal testing- this may vary from version to version):
| 0 | Tab close button is on the active tab only |
| 1 | Tab close button is on each tab |
| 2 | No tab close buttons |
| 3 | Tab close button is on the far right |
