Combining Contacts on Kopete

Early I showed you how to combine contacts on Pidgin. This is also possible on Kopete, a popular multi-protocol IM application included with KDE, although it isn't as straightforward.

1. Right click on the contact you want to combine with another and select the user's screename and then from that submenu Change Meta Contact….

2. You will then be confronted with a dialog box of everyone on your contact list. You can search through this list to find who you are looking for and then hit (the ever obvious) OK.

3. You now should likely see a dialog such as the one below. Select Delete, as keeping the empty contact does you no good.

When you are finished, you should have a new combined contact ("meta contact") as below. You can combine several different contacts if desired by repeating the process.

I use Kopete and when I read the last post(on Pidgin), I was hoping Kopete will be having something like that. Thanks for pointing it out.

@Binny V A: Since I had used Gaim before switching to KDE, I knew there had to be one when I started using Kopete. I don't remember how I found it, but I can't stand to use IM without it (which is why I dislike Meebo).
