Change the Google Desktop Keyboard Shortcut
I have recently been using the Google Desktop for Linux search on my Kubuntu systems instead of Kerry and Strigi which I had used before. I have thoroughly enjoyed Google Desktop. However, I have become rather annoyed at it's Ctrl+Ctrl keyboard shortcut. At first I rather liked it, but I have found that in places were I am constantly hitting the control key (such as my mappings for some games). I end up getting the dialog box. I realize this may be quite simple to some, but honestly I had trouble finding the setting to change the shortcut key to something more convenient to me.
1. Right click on the Google Desktop icon in the system tray and select Preferences.

2. In the preference page that appears in your default web browser, navigate to the Display tab.

3. Scroll to the bottom of this page until you get to the section entitled Keyboard Hotkey. Click Change Hotkey.

This dialog box should appear:

4. Click into the entry field and then press your new keyboard shortcut. I personally went with Ctrl+Shift+F because of it's similarity to the shortcut I use for inline searches.

5. Click Save preferences at the bottom right of the page. After the page reloads you should be able to use your new shortcut.

I assume that this should work the same under the OS X and Windows versions of Google Desktop, but I am not sure. This tutorial was written under Google Desktop for Linux 1.0 Beta. Let me know if you have any questions.
