Really Weird Spam These Days…

I just do not understand the mind of a spammer. Here's a picture of some spam that was caught by Akismet…

What's so weird about this, you ask? Not a single one of the links are actual valid links… so how does this benefit the spammers? The only thing I can think of is that the spammers are trying to see if they can get something through my spam filters, because I've gotten literally hundreds of complete nonsense spams like this in the last day.

What's more likely is that Akismet is doing such a good job that the spammers have an automated system designed to figure out things Akismet is going to block so they can figure out what will get through. What still doesn't make any sense is that Akismet would block it differently based on whether or not the links are actual links.

We're moving closer and closer to requiring a login before commenting…
